okay, my mom switched companies from at&t to verizon wireless, i had the the iphone and i loved it. now i have the blackberry tour and i don’t like it, i have been looking and looking for answers to find out if i can buy a iphone off ebay or get mine fixed and switch it to verizon, unlock the iphone i guess. Can i or is what she said right, you cant switch it like that you would have to be in at&t with a apple iphone. helllp

It is unfortunate, but no, Verizon is not compatible with the iphone (at least not yet anyway). Vrizon does offer some pretty cool touch screen phones though. I have an older on called the LG Dare. The LG Versa is a newer cooler version of the LG Dare. It is more expensive, but it has more features and a bigger screen. Both of these phones are cheaper than the iphone.
She’s somewhat right in that Apple doesn’t want you to switch to Verizon and have made it difficult, but it IS possible to “jailbreak” and then unlock the phone so it can work with any carrier.
no you cannt switch it. the iphone’s firmware was designed to work on AT&T’s network only.

Plenty of ways around that im sure. idk how though youll just have to google. however i think that kinda stuff voids your warrenty, but im not gonna stick with that answer. basically its a no. you cannot go to the store and buy an iphone with a verison contract, apple is really picky and might drop AT&T as thier sole supporting carrier in the near future. God knows how long that will take though.
Sorry, but she is right. No amount of unlocking will make the iPhone work with Verizon. iPhones are GSM phones, which require SIM cards in order to work. Verizon’s network is CDMA, which doesn’t use SIM cards. They are two completely different technologies and are not compatible with each other. Unlocking does not change the hardware to work with all carriers. It only removes the SIM lock(which is in the software) so that you can use it with other GSM providers. It does not add CDMA hardware.
And before people start saying the Tour and Storm have SIM cards….Yes, they come with them, BUT they are Vodafone SIM cards and are only PROVIDED by Verizon for travelling overseas. They do not provide Verizon service at all.
No,iphones will only work on att,tmobile or a carrier that used sim cards..
